Blurton Free Baptist Church

Welcome

Blurton Free Baptist Church is a part of the NoSFEC association of Churches in north Staffordshire and South Cheshire.  You will find a link to the NoSFEC website on "The World" page.  Last Sundays sermon can be found on the "What's On" page, and there are some interesting personal stories to be found on the "Our Beliefes" page.

JESUS IN THE CENTRE

From the opening of Genesis to the close of Revelation the Bible is all about the Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18).  As Christians our very lives ought to be centred around Jesus since “to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21).  As a church, He must be the centre and focus of everything. Our worship, preaching, equipping, discipling, fellowship and our witness should all be Christ-centred.

WORSHIP

Every element of our service is a part of our worship together, whether singing, praying, reading God’s word or hearing it preached.  Our desire is to be Christ-centred in our worship; to be ordered in our worship by God’s word, thus reflecting His priorities; to ensure that our worship is the response of our hearts to God.  It is not, “What do we get out of our worship?” but, “What does God get out of our worship?”

PREACHING

Because we seek to be Christ-centred we give a significant amount of our time together to the preaching of God’s word.  We desire to have preaching that gives understanding of God’s word, takes God seriously, is Christ-centred and enthusiastic.  We believe that preaching is vital, both to the work of the gospel and to the spiritual health of Christians, as individuals and of the church as a group.

EQUIPPING

God has given to the church those who are to equip the church for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11 – 16).  The church appoints elders who are responsible for the preaching and teaching in the church and whose aim is to equip every believer to do to serve Jesus in all things.  Every believer is a minister of God’s grace and is called to be God’s minister in the place He has put them.

DISCIPLING

The great work of the church is to make disciples (Matthew 28:18 – 20), something that does not end with a person’s conversion.  Every Christian is a disciple who needs to grow, and is themselves to make disciples

FELLOWSHIP

This is more than just socialising, it is sharing together and encouraging one another in the work of the Lord.  Fellowship is essential to healthy Christian life.  As far as the Lord is concerned, the church is the gathering of His people. We want to be a fellowship of God’s people that includes every believer who gathers here and who, through our relationships with each other, stir up love and good works.

WITNESS

We are called to be witnesses of His grace through our lives and through our mouths. We are always to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15).  Yet, people won’t ask for a reason unless they see that our faith makes a difference.  We want to be a church whose lives are a reflection of the holiness of God. Separate from ungodliness but not from the ungodly.  Then we must ensure that by all means we can the good news of God’s salvation is heard.

The Bible tells us all about Jesus.  It tells us who He is, why he came, and what He can do for you today.

Jesus told His disciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life”.  If you think about what those words mean, it is an incredible thing for anyone to say.  Yet what He then said is even more incredible.  “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  As C.S.Lewis once said, Jesus is either mad, bad, or exactly who and what He said He was.

I could not possibly tell you all about Jesus on this website.  There is too much to tell.

 AN INVITATION

"So I invite you to join us on a Sunday at either or both of our services to explore who Jesus is.  If you would like to do that in your own home a home study can be arranged if you contact the Pastor by putting a letter through the church door.  Or if you would like a New Testament and some literature to read yourself they too will be supplied if you ask for them."

If you wish to take up one of these offers please contact the Pastor
